A pleasure and a privilege - ten years as a disability support worker

As Wayne Noriega hangs up his disability support worker hat, he reflects on the life-changing bonds he has developed with Jerome and other people he’s supported over the last decade. He spent years recovering from a debilitating spinal injury, then illness, but adversity led him to the job he has loved. He describes Jerome as an incredible character with the ability to light up the room with his infectious laugh. Seeing happiness on the faces of people we support has kept him here and giving 110%. "The huge challenges people we support face keep the small things in perspective – these guys are everyday heroes."
