‘Dancing, it makes me happy!’ Tash Smith says when asked what her favourite thing to do is. Tash did lots of dancing on her holiday to Launceston recently. She also got to hold a wombat at the accessible Tasmania Zoo.
Justine Hallam, a Team Leader on Tash’s support team, says getting out to live music and dancing is a big part of Tash’s weekly goals. They recommend local live music on Sundays, especially at the Paddy Wagon Irish Pub in Glenorchy or the Longley International Hotel.

‘Cockle Creek has been my best camping trip. The water was so smooth and clear.’
Brandan Cooper goes camping every year with his support worker, David Osborne. They like to camp at remote places like Maria Island, Bruny Island and, recently, Cockle Creek. They spend at least two nights away on their yearly trip. Brandan really loves fishing and having a campfire.
He’s is in charge of the food and cooks dinner each night.
What is Brandan’s top tip for camping? ‘Just make sure the weather is perfect!’

‘I love the theatre, I saw Mamma Mia! twice and just went to A Christmas Carol, too.’
Jenny Dixon loves being active in her community. Her favourite thing to do is go to a theatre show, but you’ll also find her at live music and sporting events like soccer or football games, especially if the Western Bulldogs are playing!
Fitness and staying healthy are also important goals for Jenny. Her support team is always ready for a trip to the pool with her. In fact, she makes sure they always have their swimming gear handy – she tells them, ‘put your swimmers in the car, all the time!’
