You’ll need:

  • good basic money handling skills
  • solid written and verbal communication skills
  • IT literacy, including the ability to use email
  • a current full or provisional driver’s licence
  • the right to work in Australia
  • a police check clearance (or proof you've applied for one).

Before you start, you'll also need:

  • a Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Employee/Volunteer status). If you don't already have one, don't apply for one yet. We'll explain how you should apply if your application is successful.
  • a satisfactory pre-employment health check
  • a smartphone you're willing to use for work purposes
  • to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You.

Key tasks and duties

  • Provide person-centred support to people living with a disability.
  • Provide a wide range of personal care services including meal preparation, dressing, personal hygiene, domestic cleaning and administering medication.
  • Help develop and implement care plans.
  • Implement skills and activity programs with limited supervision.
  • Provide encouragement and assistance to the people we support with their recreation, leisure activities, social interactions and access to community life.
  • Keep a record of significant daily events.
  • Work in shifts that vary in length with a range of morning, afternoon and weekend shifts including sleepovers. Shifts may include one-to-one support in the community, supporting people in their own homes and working in a residential setting.
